Features & Tools
Meeting old friends and making new ones is part of the fun in Toontown, and parents can monitor who their child interacts with in the game.
Toontown offers three levels of Chat for players. Parents can enable SpeedChat or SpeedChat Plus on their child's account by Managing Their Account Settings.
- Basic SpeedChat limits what players can say to a predefined menu of greetings, questions and statements, emotes, and actions. For chatting, players can only see other SpeedChat messages.
- SpeedChat Plus allows players to type their own messages to other users. Every message is filtered to allow only pre-approved words and phrases, and to block attempts to communicate a phone number or other personally identifiable information.
Although the filter is continuously updated, comments that could be offensive to some players may occasionally get through. In order to limit that and further protect participants, Toontown employs highly trained, on-site staff to monitor activity and chat, receive reports of misconduct and provide personalized player support. Players who engage in inappropriate behavior can be silenced or banned.
- True Friends Chat is a special feature for Paid Members that allows players to exchange a secret code outside of the game with a friend or family member they know, and then participate in open chat with that friend or family member in the game.
